If you have lost or broken all your car keys, we can come to you and provide you with a new set of keys in minutes, without asking you to have your vehicle towed to our base or wait for 10 working days like the dealer will.
If you have one key that starts the engine and just need a spare, you can either book an appointment with one of our mobile specialists or you can save money by coming to our Discount Shop in North London (248 Archway Road, N65AX) and have it done here. Car keys for Fiats contain an electronic chip. The transponder chip communicates with the Fiat’s immobiliser unit which is usually concealed behind the vehicle dashboard on most models. The immobiliser system will then search electronically for a transponder chip when a key is instered into the ignition.
If the correct chip is present, the immo system will allow the Fiat vehicle to start. If the immo system fails to detect a chip the fuel supply to the engine is cut off. Therefore, it is impossible to bypass, override or remove a Fiat immobiliser and still drive the vehicle.
The small glass chip embedded in the plastic part of Fiat car keys operates on one of two different coding systems: it could be either protected by a “crypto coding system (newer vehicles)” or by a “Red Key system (older vehicles)” security system. Should your car rely on the latter key system, you will need the original red master key to electronically “pair” replacement keys to the vehicle.
1. A new key blade (either a traditional car key or a laser remote control flip key) must be cut accurately to unlock the doors and fit the ignition.
2. The transponder chip inside the replacement car key must be synced to your Fiat vehicle. At this stage, if the Fiat key is programmed incorrectly (regardless of whether it can lock/unlock the doors), the replacement key will unlock the doors and turn in the ignition, but the car’s ECU (Engine Control Unit) will NOT allow the vehicle to start.
3. Finally, if you have opted for a remote fob, there is a different procedure for programming your remote fob and synchronizing it to the vehicle to lock and unlock the doors.
Sometimes, the process might be more complicated. For instance when our technicians need to gain access to the ECU or when the vehicle is locked.
Remember: Microchips for every Fiat Car Key are “programmed” to a particular unique vehicle. Meaning second hand or recylced chips and keys purchased via eBay or the internet will NOT start a Fiat vehicle – unless the key has been diagnostically paired to the car using dealer-standard diagnostic equipment.
If all your car keys are lost, authorised Fiat Dealers can replace them, but the process will cost around £800 if all the locks are changed. Fiat Dealers usually source new keys directly from the Fiat HQ in Italy. This process can take up to ten days. In addition, you may need to pay extra for your vehicle to be towed to the dealer so they can order you a key.
Autokey Squad can cut a new key by the roadside cheaply. We offer better value on quality replacement Fiat car keys by cutting and programming a new key to the existing lock barrels and immobiliser (unlike the dealer, we won’t change the whole lock set).
Time and Place Convenience: Our specialists shall come to your vehicle wherever it is located, cut and program a new car key for your Fiat while you wait. The newly programmed transponder chip will seamlessly work with the immobiliser system.
Money-back guarantee : AutoKey Squad service carries a full money-back guarantee. In addition, our service is covered by a one year warranty.
Save Money: Our overheads are lower than franchised car dealerships with expensive showrooms. This means customers who buy directly from us save money. The bottom line is, AutoKey Squad can supply you with high-quality car keys for your Fiat vehicle cheaply.
Save Even More: Fiat car keys manufactured prior to 1995 have no transponder chips thereby cutting the cost of new car keys.
Quality Assurance: Autokey Squad never compromises on quality. All our experienced technicians carry the latest diagnostic equipment to ensure our workmanship on your Fiat vehicle is of the highest possible standard.
Inside Tip: Fiat Car Key blades feature a double cut on the metal blade itself. This leaves the metal part of the blade vulnerable to breaking or snapping off – often in the door lock or ignition. A Fiat Autokey Squad Car Key Specialist can usually extract the snapped key from inside the lock and cut a replacement on the spot. Skilled technicians are also able to reprogram remote control central locking fobs which have stopped communicating with the Fiat car.
“Most of the first Fiat models fitted with transponder chip keys were equipped with three-key system. The most important key is the first one – the red master key. This key is used to programme all the other keys which are authorised for the vehicle into the ECU. The systems were introduced after transponder chips and immobiliser systems started to be introduced into car security systems in the mid-Nineties. The ECU is an abbreviation for the Electronic Control Unit – it’s the computer that basically functions as the Fiat’s brain and decides whether to allow the engine to start etc.
Many people believe they can only get a new key by going to an authorised Fiat dealer who orders the key in from Italy.
To be honest, this is a bit of a myth put around – some cynics might say it’s done by the dealerships to keep revenue up. As Fiat Car Key Specialists, my company AutoKey Squad can genuinely offer customers massive savings totaling up to hundreds of pounds if a customer has lots all their Fiat keys. We come to the customer’s vehicle to cut a replacement key, whereas Fiat Dealerships will normally ask a motorist to get their vehicle to a dealer on a low-loader.
That’s a big saving. And there’s another factor at play here. Because all AutoKey Squad technicians are qualified lock specialists, we can work with the customer’s existing locks. We cut and create a brand new replacement Fiat key which fits the existing door locks and ignition barrel. After that, we use dealer-standard diagnostic tools to programme a small glass transponder chip into the Fiat vehicle’s ECU. I’ve heard many cases of Fiat dealers charging customers more than £800 – and telling them their only option is to buy an entire new set of locks for the doors and ignition and replace them. In that scenario, we can save a customer big money.”
If your Fiat is a second hand and it came with only one key, our Autokey Squad specialists highly recommend that you purchase a second set of keys or fobs as a backup set.

Available appointment times include out-of-hours appointments during evenings, weekends or early mornings at no extra charge.
